SightCare is The Guild's vision loss information, education and training program. The Jewish Guild
for the Blind is accredited by the American Occupational Therapists Association and New York State Nursing Association to provide continuing education units. Our mission is to help people with vision loss attain lives of dignity and independence.

SightCare has developed a range of informational, educational and training programs and materials including:

• Vision Loss Awareness and Education - The SightCare Vision Loss Education and Training program provides education and instructional materials to persons who have, or who are at risk of having vision loss, and to their caregivers. Targeted training programs and materials are also available for health care staff working with and caring for people with vision loss. The programs are designed to promote independence and safety for people with vision loss living in all settings.



• Diabetes Education and Prevention – SightCare also offers innovative programs that combat the escalation of type 2 diabetes among children. The programs deliver unique and targeted health education to school aged children, and their families, in low income and high risk communities. Using fun and interactive strategies, children and parents learn about the link between obesity and diabetes, and are taught simple and effective ways to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes through good nutrition and exercise.
